Solution | Carbon Credits
Working with Applied Ecological Services, the University of Hawai’i, Governor Ige’s office, and Hawaiian Airlines, Food Security Hawai’i will be using grant funds to develop a protocol mechanism by which all Hawaiian farmers who use agricultural practices that result in the sequestration of carbon can receive carbon payments. Based on research results done by Dr. Susan Crow, et al of the University of Hawaii (paid for by USDA grants) Hawaiian farmers can sequester carbon at twice the rate of mainland farmers.
